TOBI:UNKNOWN is a handmade dummybook project that began in 2022.
The original dummybooks are never offered for sale.
Within this project, the original dummybooks are not meant to be owned. They exist to be held, paged through, and experienced over time. For this reason, they are made available primarily through exhibitions and lending.
At the same time, publishing opportunities are always welcome. Photobooks, exhibition catalogues, and other publications produced from the original dummybooks are not replacements for the originals, but new forms that bring the TOBI:UNKNOWN project to a wider audience.
TOBI:UNKNOWN is the title of the work, the name of the series, and the name of the artist.
Rather than presenting a fixed conclusion, the project continues to evolve through editing, the accumulation of time, and encounters with others.
Its meaning and value are not determined by the artist alone, but are gradually shaped through the interpretations of those who encounter the project.

原本であるダミーブックは販売しません。
このプロジェクトにおいて原本は所有されるものではなく
実際に手に取りページをめくり、時間を共有するための存在です。
そのため展示やレンタルを通じて公開することを基本としています。
一方で、出版社から刊行される写真集や展示に伴うカタログなど、
新たな出版の形は歓迎します。
それらは原本の代替ではなくTOBI:UNKNOWNというプロジェクトを
より多くの人へ届けるための新たな展開であると考えています。
TOBI:UNKNOWNは作品名でありシリーズ名でありアーティスト名でもあります。
このプロジェクトはひとつの結論を提示するためではなく
編集を重ね 時間を積み重ね 人との出会いを通して変化し続けます。
その意味や価値は作者だけでなく、
このプロジェクトと出会う人々の解釈によって育まれていくことを願っています。
